Sustainable tourism

One of the first things we agreed on while planning our company, was being as green as possible and using local services. Pristine nature in the Lake Saimaa region demands this approach and we are more than happy to live our promise in everyday decisions.

Lake Saimaa offers clean waters, breathtaking natural beauty, and a sauna culture that will leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated. You can paddle your way through the crystal-clear waterways, admiring the stunning scenery, and listening to the calming sounds of nature. And if fishing is your thing, you can cast your line and try your luck catching the famous Saimaa salmon or trout.

If you’re looking to explore Lakeland in style and sustainability, we offer a unique cruising experience that is both eco-friendly and adventurous. We are using renewable diesel from Finnish provider St1, using the solar system to charge gadgets, local services are used in almost all our functions,  and we want to conserve this beautiful region. Environmental actions

Being part of sustainable tourism in protected areas is a must for keeping Saimaa ringed seal colony healthy and stress-free. We need to keep nature protected, otherwise, there is no tourism industry available in the future. 

We are proud to pay a yearly support fee for “Pidä Saaristo Siistinä RY” (Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association) for cleaning Lake Saimaa’s surroundings and the islands. And we are applying for different sustainable travel certificates to showcase our actions.

Since it was founded, the Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association has overseen the management of waste created by boaters and others travelling in and around the fragile waterways of the archipelago and lake region. Ensuring the upkeep of waste disposal stations and dry toilets in the harbours remains an important aspect of the Association’s activities. The Association also provides other services, such as floating sewage pump out stations and excursion harbour services for those travelling on the water, and separate scrap and waste collection points for cottage residents in the archipelago and Lakeland region.”
