Adventure cruise on your terms

  This May me and my wife spent 3 nights on Lake Saimaa with Open Shores Saimaa. The lake and the surrounding landscape was the stuff of dreams, with serene lakescapes,... read more beaches and pine trees. The company provided all sorts of activities, including fishing, SUP, kayaking, rock climbing and of course the obligatory Finnish sauna, located in the aft of the ship. Food and drink were spectacular, with BBQ on the deck being a highlight. We spent one night on a small idyllic island, while another night we moored in walking distance from a fantastic pub, taken straight out of a Kaurismäki movie. In conclusion this is the perfect holiday for those who enjoy being active on/near the water, in combination with relaxing in beautiful and soothing surroundings. All this with an environment friendly profile! We are already planning our next journey with Open Shores Saimaa.

On what I think was the hottest day in 2023, a group of... read more 12 of us from 3 years old to 73 years old were able to enjoy it with Jyri and Matti on the beautiful Saimaa waters. The boat was great and, of course, the highlight was being able to sauna and then swim in cool, pristine lake waters after getting nice and hot. We spent most of our time anchored at a local beach and, despite somewhat choppy waters, were still able to enjoy a bit of kayaking and SUPing. Jyri and Matti were great and their food caterer provided an excellent meal. This will definitely be part of our new summer traditions in years to come.

  June 3rd and 4th 2023: What a fantastic weekend I was able to spend on their boat on the Lake Saimaa with the host of Jyri (Captain) and his son... read more Juuso (Deckhand). This boat trip was integrated with a bicycle tour. Due to bad weather condition Jyri offered me to come on boat already in Savonlinna. The Landscape and the nature around the lake is just amazing. We spent the overnight at a sandy beach. One of the highlights was for sure the sauna experience on the boat. The lake could have been for me a little bid warmer! Beer and sausage after the sauna are according to Jyri a must. Then we enjoyed a very good meal with interesting discussions until late in the night. The next day after breakfast the destination was the point where I could continue my bicycle tour. I enjoyed the trip a lot. Hopefully I will be able to meet them again during a next trip to Finnland in this beautiful region.
